The Switch was announced in October and released in March and it was plenty of time for hype. A console with this many sales didn't need a year of hype, I think that long of a wait would do the opposite actually.

With RIF is just straight blocked posts containing Musk, Rowling etc, plenty of specific subreddits and managed to make my /all experience a great one. I'm hoping I can do that down the line with Lemmy too!
Not yet, but in Reddit in recent years I mostly posted in niche little places for interests I didn't know there was a community for. I'm just hoping they will migrate or evolve over here because I found so many fun little hobbies because of the organic finding of new subs that Reddit seemed to foster.
And I have a 4mo old baby so that limits my time too. Every day though there is more and more, so I'm hoping I'll be a contributor to help it grow soon!
Oh yeah, the rumours were swirling around for so long before hand. Nintendo Live is in Sept, so they might announce then and go for a May release. A bit longer between but a good time to build hype.
