If you were someone who believed in IQ like a religion, but had just made a stupid and costly mistake, I would hope you'd take a second to think. Maybe IQ isn't everything, and it's definitely not the only thing, that makes people successful or unsuccessful.

Instead he busts out a slur and jokes about having an IQ of 26

Wow, these people have not planned anything at all. They're going to homeschool all 7+ kids? And go into politics, a job that infamously has long, unsociable hours?

They bought this house and the one next door for $575,000; they allow their neighbours to live in the second house rent free, in exchange for childcare.

it hasn't but it has been promoted as a predictor of success in education, work and life. The Bell Curve famously claimed that higher IQ people were more likely to finish education, stay in work, stay out of prison and stay married.
