Ah yes, another opportunity for corporate landlords to artificially inflate housing prices while barely maintaining the property

As one of the people who has been involved in some of those discussions recently, I will say that I think there is merit to thoughtful, constructive content relating to crime that helps advance the conversation and bring awareness to solutions and progress.

What I don’t think is appropriate in the format of a Lemmy community is posting a link to every bulletin that a new crime happened. This community isn’t a police scanner, and I don’t think the structure of Lemmy, or Reddit for that matter, are conducive to spamming repetitive, shallow content.

I want to make it clear that yes, I do care about crime, want to see it reduced, and I am not trying to turn a blind eye to it. But I don’t need to know every single incident to know that it’s happening. These bulletin-style crime reports don’t give me, and I would imagine many people, new information that helps further the process of policy, social support, etc that could improve the state of the issue.

Finished another playthrough of this game today! It really does have an incredible soundtrack.

No offense, but can you post things other than fear-mongering crime reports? There’s 100% more relevant and thoughtful content out there that can actually be engaging to users like me who are interested in discussion about our town.

If I wanted to see a stream of live crime updates, there are better places for me to go look at that than on Lemmy.

Seafile is probably the next biggest/most developed alternative. When I’ve tried setting it up in the past I’ve had serious issues getting it running behind a reverse proxy. Would be fine for local or VPN/Tailscale style usage though. Also, data is stored in a proprietary database which would make configuring external backups a bit harder.

Syncthing is probably the most flexible option, but it’s not a “cloud” storage solution, it’s peer-to-peer file syncing. Doesn’t really allow for easy selective sync or quick deployment and configuration.

There’s also Owncloud but I don’t have experience with it.

Worse than obsidian if you try and use it like obsidian, sure. But better than obsidian at being a Notion replacement for certain tasks.

Same reason there’s dozens of closed-source note-taking and project management apps. Some have different feature sets and workflows that enable different functionality. One might be great for your specific use-case, another might not. That doesn’t mean the latter doesn’t have any merit, or that it won’t be the perfect solution for someone else who has different needs.

Just change to Subscribed view? As you get more users who subscribe to various other communities and instances the All feed will start to have more and more content that isn’t what you are subscribed to.

This album is one of my personal all-time favorites. Rocked my world when it came out a few years back. Thanks for posting it!

I know when subs were just reopening from the blackout, some of the ones that promoted Lemmy alternatives had some issues with the Reddit admins. Not sure if that’s still the case or not

I don’t really have a preference on the team name, all I want is the rowdy fan section to be sponsored by Milwaukee Tools so the fans can be the “Milwaukee Tools”

Is it possible to use sub folder domains with duckdns? I’ve only ever used it to point to my dynamic IP and then use my registered TLD with subdomains and cname records pointing to the duckdns address.
