um... Regnum isn't really a pve game. For the real veterans, the pve can sort of get zen, since they all know what to expect. RvR is super busy.

i guess, the vibe i get is Regnum is sort of unique in the pvp genre. It's a really hard RvR game to plan anything, so a lot of the game ends up being about destiny and fate. It's the only rvr pvp mmo i know of that winning or playing the pvp is like a deep dopamine hit, or like taking a smoke break. Maybe because everyone is standing around chatting about funny plans, or what is happening or not happening, or just chilling. Nobody expects anything, yet everybody pushes in hard when the opportunity arrives.

Regnum is sort of the game, if you can get into the zone, it sort of shows you are in tune with real life, you can manage taking away all the superfluous gfx, and yet get with the rhythm of death and life?

Regnum may be the only mmo where players regularly refer to being in the flow state, in order to succeed in what may be the fastest and hardest pvp in mmos today:

oh god no more WoW. it's dead. Blizzard is a massive shitpile now. No matter how good WoW is, nobody wants to be associated with or paying for sex molesters, greedy nerds and overpaid shits in the workplace. People want a decent mmo, done by decent devs.

ah.. gw2's rvr is popular. i was just referring to gw2's pve content.

but i'm not sure gw2's pvp and rvr is the same, or as good as regnum's. i guess everyone has their own opinion. i suspect having differents kinds of rvr is better for the industry as a whole, as the playerbase is so new, players still do not really know how to define what they want.

Raiding, including GW2's raids is generally about PVE. It gets boring and repetitive. Whereas in a proper RvR open pvp mmo, the games' events naturally create its own dynamic RvR open pvp raids. For example, right now this week in Champions of Regnum, the realm of Syrtis seems to be dominating the realm war, but in a large disorganised fashion. So the current raid mechanic underway is an attempt by the realm of Alsius to fight hard, fighting back harder than ever before, dying in large numbers without giving quarter. A few Alsius players seem to be leading the battles, slowly teaching newer players how to battle, how to support, and new strategies in timing and how to build and use your characters' abilities beyond the current frontiers. That's the current PvP raid mechanic in the game. Unlike GW2, it doesn't tend to repeat. Next week, next month is likely to be completely different.

i looked over Albion, and i didn't find the combat abilities deep enough to interest me. It looked like a moba's set of abilities. Also the roleplay to me was not that deep, and the perspective view was too close to top down.

Ya, almost all the players come from outside mainstream forums like steam, Fbook, Insta, Reddit etc. it’s like some hidden lost world of Latin people from retro mmo days. Many of their children play now.

The basic horse mount called Light Horse costs 1,250 ximerin, which i think is about USD 8. This is a permanent purchase. It’s the only permanent purchase I can recommend, though you can actually earn enough ximerin to buy a light horse after several weeks, if you log in every day (logging in every day earns you “ Regnum coins “, which is convertible to ximerin for free at about a rate of 7 rc for 1 sim). I don’t really like having too many currencies in a game.

Neither the CEO Kim Taek-jin nor his wife CEO Songyee Yoon strike me as having any knowledge or sensitivity of gaming. What a bunch of losers. The whole Sth Korean business scene is riddled with nepotism and filthy and revolting people. Sack them all.

Strong points:

  1. Low spec engine, full 3D
  2. Active ongoing RvR open pvp
  3. Chill community, everybody is in it for the roleplay of intense RvR, but nobody gets mad at dying or killing (it's like a sports match in some ways).

Why pick Regnum over Albion:

  1. View perspective is different. Top down, different state of situational awareness.
  2. Regnum's abilities are less like a moba, and more like DnD. They take more puzzling.
  3. Main server of Regnum is like a holiday in a Latin American country (with 3 flavours for factions: Forest elves, Mountain dwarves, Desert demons).

Why pick Regnum over RoR:

  1. No gender locking of classes, artwork in Regnum may be more appealing.
  2. View perspective and feel of Regnum is different in war, different situational awareness.
  3. Main server of Regnum is like a holiday in a Latin American country.

Why pick Regnum over Eve:

  1. Eve is more of a spreadsheet big space sim war
  2. Regnum is more of fantasy magic world
  3. Regnum let's you experience chill war in a cool, scenic, forest/snow/mountain setting.

Overall negative points for Regnum:

  1. Gets a lot of bad press.
  2. Some regard the interface as clunky, but overall the engine is fine.
  3. Old somewhat DnD style abilities.

Feel free to ask more questions. Actually, all the games mentioned above are solid industry players in mmos. It's good if they all grow the genre together.

i'm happy to discuss or answer questions about Champions of Regnum. I play pretty much every day, so can probably answer questions, here, in game or in their discord. This is a 6 month to 1yr+ game. Most players who make it past level 50 (max is lvl 60) stay for years. It's just a simple game to drop in and play/war whenever you like.

Not super keen on the rainbow colours, as i think it is a bit too LGBT leaning (i'm not opposed to LGBT, just feel it should be more centrally balanced). But it's grade A for effort, much thanks!

I tend to only like big RvR open pvp, as this always generates new content. Then I am also after something cheap and not pay to win, so it has to be f2p of some form. I also want full 3D, as I like relaxing scenery. Only a few mmos match this, so in the end I found Champions of Regnum.

If you like a kind of DnD spells and ability formet with full on RvR open pvp, try the f2p Champions of Regnum. It is from the time of DAOC. While it has a big spanish speaking community, there are many English speakers.
