Which makes me think they won't do that, at least until they realize their current plan won't work out in the long run. So far they've been going in the opposite direction by locking down everything:

• killing off third party apps
• making it difficult to access on old Reddit or mobile web
• only letting search engines index the site if they pay
• talk of paywalling subreddits

Fossify Gallery includes some basic editing

FFShare works nicely for reducing file sizes, but I wish it was more forgiving and did the conversion in the background. More than once I waited through the conversion and then accidentally closed it.

Termux also works well. Some tips:

• change the shell to something like Fish. Autocomplete helps a lot when typing on mobile
• set up some aliases for common commands

I've used the term "threadiverse" for a while and it's been in use from before Meta threads was widely advertised, but I agree that it can be confusing now
