I've been losing my mind watching liberals on twitter praise this for days. talking about the heartbreaking scenes and reunions and stuff. like I'm sure there were political prisoners who didn't do anything wrong, but it's a country that's been battling fucking ISIS for over a decade, it's going to have really bad people in its prisons.

ah ok I haven't been on here, mostly been doom scrolling twitter in inconsolable rage at what the US/Israel has done to Syria over the past week

seeing the same from people I follow on twitter, SAA has apparently recaptured al-Safira. and heavy fighting back and forth all day in Hama, but seems to be safe now.

[take stuff like this with a grain of salt though, sources are unreliable and battle lines change fast]

didn't ISIS kind of pioneer drone usage around that time? I don't think it's even comparable though, those kinds of drones were really shitty and crude, nothing like the Turkish-supplied stuff they'll have today. there seems to be much more focus on training drone operators these days too, idk if you saw that picture of the HTS drone class they released.

Israel has informed Washington of its intention to carry out a series of attacks in Lebanon in response to Hezbollah’s rocket launches.

The Defense Minister has approved plans for large-scale attacks on Hezbollah.

The security establishment believes that not responding strongly and immediately may harm the ceasefire for years

The security establishment is considering the possibility of Israel entering the fighting for several days

The political level agreed to intensify attacks on the Syria - Lebanon border

for Israel, the ceasefire was brilliant. they were able to continue killing and displacing people while stopping Hezb from fighting back. apparently they were also able to advance further into Lebanon than they were before the ceasefire. and now the Western press completely ignores all the ceasefire violations. if Hezb starts fighting back, they'll all start going "well we tried a ceasefire and these terrorists didn't accept it". it was a big strategic error on Hezb's part to accept this 'ceasefire'.
