LOL I love this

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I'm kinda torn on this. On one hand, it looks totally sick, I love the look/feel of aluminum and I love my Nt mini Noir. But being handheld kinda makes this more awkward? The weight and feel of the aluminum might be strange. But more than anything else, I'm just really unhappy about the DAC support for the Pocket. It's so long overdue. I'm unhappy with the showing of Analogue's priorities here.

No indication about what color(s) will be available, but I'd definitely assume it to be only just black and white.

I don't have a Duo, but this probably helps? Is it known to have some noise issues?

I don't have a Duo, but it's nice to see the continued quick updates coming.

Still hoping to see DAC support for the Pocket Dock and Duo soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

Looks like a mostly short ish list of changes... but still no DAC support unfortunately ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜ญ

  • OS
    • Added support for Analogue Pocket Adapter Set including TG16, PCE, SuperGrafx, Lynx, NGP and NGPC
    • Memories and Sleep/Wake are supported for TG16, PCE, SuperGrafx and Lynx
    • Boot to Cartridge now skips Game Detail screen
  • APF
    • Fixed data slot loads with asset sizes not divisible by 4
  • Dock
    • Fixed controllers occasionally not responding when using the Down+Select hotkey
    • Adjusted display video alignment symmetry

Looks great! Honestly I'm a bit surprised to see this, as I wasn't sure if we would, given the Duo is a pretty different console than many of Analogue's previous releases.

And be sure to check out the main GitHub page itself too: https://github.com/analoguejb/Analogue-Duo-JB

Looks like some nice bug fixes and things, but no DAC support yet :(

Interestingly, I haven't seen any tweet about this yet ๐Ÿค”

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good new year ๐Ÿ˜„

Now I just want DAC support!

Also, here's the link to their tweet announcing this new release: https://twitter.com/analogue/status/1738930789532811436

Duo owners, you might want to keep a close eye on firmware releases for the next few months, it looks like there are still a good amount of fixes and things coming quickly.

Excited to watch this! (But, honestly I did not preorder a Duo...)

Looks like some good fixes and updates!

I'm really hoping to see DAC support soon though ๐Ÿฅบ

Yeah I mean I think it's great, if you wanna play any of the games that your Pocket plays, just on your TV, and you maybe already have one of the supported controllers, I think it's perfect. Especially if you don't already have a GameCube + Gameboy Player.

However at the end of the day, that's what it does, it let's you play those games on your tv. So I don't think there's much of a "wow" factor, which is totally fine. I wish it was like, just a tiny bit cheaper, and had DAC support, but still I'm happy with it.

Thanks for posting!

I think the main thing I'm looking forward to are those new Pocket OS updates ๐Ÿ‘€ Kinda begging to finally get DAC support, which appears to be missing here ๐Ÿ˜ญ Also I have a white Pocket so would've loved to have gotten a white dock too, but eh it's okay, the black one is totally good.

Anyone here have a Duo on preorder? I passed on it too, but I'm kinda wondering if I'm gonna get fomo (probably... ๐Ÿ˜…)

Thank you for posting!!

And yes I'm very excited for this also. The 8bitdo pairing is really interesting too, I agree that very few modern joysticks have truly ever felt like a real good replacement for what the N64 had (while also overcoming the particularly unreliable joystick that the original one was...)

Can't wait to learn more ๐Ÿ‘€

I tried... ๐Ÿฅฒ

I got stuck on the "please don't refresh, you're in line to checkout" screen ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I tried getting an orange one but failed ๐Ÿ˜ญ
