Also here in the UK a large majority believe that “Empire” was a nice pleasant good thing that did nothing but good to the countries we merely ’looked after’.

We call the ones that haven’t fully told us to ‘fuck off’ the ‘Commonwealth’ and hold lots of PR events like Olympic-esque games and ‘rich monarch waves at people who’s country has a GDP less than their hat largely because we stole all their resources before they could use them to develop’ tours.

It’s ok. Being fair, open minded, and happy to hear new info is the best way to go about these things. This is the first time a bunch of people are hearing about Beltran being a bit of a bigoted arsehole but he’s been like this for years (didn’t used to be this bad, at least overtly, but has gotten more so with age). Those who have been in the convention scene for a fair time are in no way shocked.

Additional context:

He has also gone on to block a large number of LGBTQ fans tweeting to simply ask if he meant what was implied or not. The situation ain’t good.

I’m sure this will spur society to prioritise the future viability of our species survival and the state of the environment over short term quarterly profits right? … right?

Saw this on the federated feed and thought I’d try it out. Looks really nice so far! Do you have a roadmap of features you’re looking at adding in the future?

I think a lot of it is also that we never bothered to use the switch to LED streetlights to fix the design issues with streetlights as a whole. So many of them are designed with no real care in their directionality. They are there to light downwards but make no efforts to minimise any directed up. A lot could be done to mitigate the effects with a better design focus to limit the lighting only to where required.

I didn’t say I agreed with the no gag order tactics. Just speculating why. I agree with you wholeheartedly on the dangers of letting him sling his angry mob at people.

I have a pet theory that he knows it’s in the future but not as imminent as he suggests (like the docs case) but if he says it’s imminent now he can spin yarns about their case being in tatters and delays being due to mistakes, etc like he tried to spin for the docs case.

It’s all about the optics to his base.

I think there’s also an element of not doing gag orders on him unless vital as he’d likely break them anyway and use any enforcement action as a call to action to his supporters to say that he’s being ‘silenced by the Biden administration’ and fuel the very fires that lead to things like Jan 6th.

He does also do a very good job in giving prosecutors evidence against him when they just let him talk.

All my deploys are written in binary on a stack of index cards that we then burn, put in a zip lock bag, encase in concrete, surround in a welded closed steel box, and throw in the Mariana Trench. The documentation sucks though.
