OSHA standards are written in blood. We never get workplace rules forbidding dangerous practices until multiple people die from it. And I agree, it is sad that it is still this way after centuries of this.

fortunately, this change does not affect Bluray movies you can buy at the store. This is only about recordable Bluray drives, which basically no one uses on a consumer level.
i think that's it. We used to use CD-Rs and DVD-Rs to record playlists and movies, respectively. Data hoarders today will prefer multi-hard drive servers over burning everything to Bluray, and for one-time file transfers, we have flash drives and online file shares. I just can't think of a use case for BR-R that isn't better served by a different technology.
tbh i might just be inclined to view older peripherals as controllers? Which isn't exactly clear and logical. Idk, i guess the counter to that is that I would consider Guitar Hero guitars "peripherals" rather than "controllers", so you maybe it is a "general" vs "specific" thing. Except a lot of these controllers we're talking about were only officially supported by like, 5 games at most. So i'm back to not knowing the difference haha.

DS4? As in the one for the PS4? It's a bit of an unfair comparison bc they are different gens, but i would definitely argue that the current Xbox Series controllers are higher build-quality than the DS4. My Xbox One controller had creaky, rattly shoulders and an okay but not great d-pad. The newer ones fix that, fortunately.
All that said, I will not dispute that it's probably less ideal for smaller hands. Sony has always gotten that part right.

the orb! The Orb was the number one controller i had in mind when making this post. I never had one but i've watched so many videos about it. It's like a controller from an alternate timeline of what could have been, if we never moved to analog sticks or mouse look. Apparently the tech is still preferred in the 3D CAD space. After several acquisitions, the company is now a Logitech subsidiary called "3Dconnexion", and they make CAD tools like the SpaceMouse that use the same 6-axis tech that the SpaceOrb used:

Today I learned about the Jogcon controller for PS1 & PS2:
This was a dualshock where the analog sticks are replaced by a dial with force feedback, so players could play Ridge Racer and really FEEL the road as if the dial was a steering wheel. I have no clue if it was good (probably not), but I do miss a good weird controller.

I just watched it for the first time a week ago, so pardon me if I'm misremembering. But I read it as like, he was horny and curious so he tried it, but he felt sort of ashamed right after. Then Oliver shows up and discovers his shame, AND teases him about it, so that amplifies Elio's shame x100. Oliver forgets that Elio is still a child, and isn't ready to be teased about something so vulnerable. So he switches to comforting Elio, and then they grow even closer.
