Not if you're an EFL (English as foreign language) teacher and you needed a way to help your students understand adjective placement better: )

I like Mario Galaxy as an analogy. Facebook, Reddit, etc. aree all like big planets. The difference with the fediverse is that we can make all the small planets we want, and each of those planets has its own communities, and it's easy to hop around to different places.

But I know not everyone plays Mario Galaxy, so maybe it's like The Little Prince?

I really don't think it's complicated, people just don't have a clear analogy to work with because it's something new.

Thing is, they don't have to pay people for that. Some people just love having the contrarian "not everything meta does is bad" opinion because they think they're being clever

I know you meant "threat" but that was a nice one

Nah definitely not. I don't know about the owner but there was definitely too much "debate" on whether to defederate from exploding heads for my liking, felt a little too "free speech-y" so I set up on lemmy.world instead

Might be controversial but I don't believe that people who want to murder minorities deserve a voice. I feel like that's a pretty reasonable bar to set lol.

It's not controversial at all. The only people making "controversy" out of it are the ones who are mad they can't spew hate

They're trying to design it to hold attention now, but back in the day reddit was designed like shit but people still used it a ton. I agree with you, just think that corporate social media isn't always good at what they claim to do (retain eyeballs)
