Hi all, a friend convinced me to give FFXIV a try, and I've just made myself a Conjurer character. I'm barely 5-10 minutes in and damn this game's pretty. Also pleasantly surprised by how solid the controller support is so far.

Curious if there are any pitfalls I should avoid, or if any of you seasoned players have advice for someone who's just starting out.

• Currently on the free trial. Does the subscription ever go on sale? I don't doubt its value, but ~$150 USD / year is steep for any game (imo).
• Are the classes/races decently balanced? I've played other MMOs where the game's just not viable with certain classes.
• I saw a menu option for macros, and I'd assume that's keyboard-only? Are there any other players using just a controller, or does that become a hinderance at some point?

Starting on the 20th, the characters created get a lvl 80 skip for all jobs and may start MSQ at EW.

Testing ends on the 27th of november and all characters are wiped.

I really enjoy exploring them by myself, figuring out the mechanics and trying out all the paths. I understand it didn't land with most people due to the underwhelming rewards but the idea behind it is really fun.

Now, I don't think they are a replacement for explorarion zones or anything, I just think they should come alongside other pve content in the next expansions.

The savage version is a bit lame though, no new mechanics just a time limit, they should really add something to it that's actually fun. Mqybe something like special weekly effects that make it easier/harder/different.

Fall guys collab + last EW variant dungeon

Didn't really say much about it, other than them visually combining their two 1H weapons into a 2H one temporarily for a self-buff.

They're an original class though. Also Yoshi P looks fab with his cosplay outfit. 😅

The rewards this year seem to be:

• A new emote, /charm.
• A wall mounted set of bats.

I can't believe I have to grind CC for glamour again. I would pay money to skip this awful combat where you can't even react to anything because it was specifically not coded for you to.

I'm late to this discussion, but I've been watching a few videos about this from content creators and I find this argument impossible to defend.

Taking ARR out (it's not really an expansion), you can't actually think EW is worse than HW. HW had much worse and less content and while the story, including the patches, was better, that era didn't have what people are complaining about now. Maybe less job homogenization, but also absolute dumpster tier jobs that people didn't play.

So yeah, things are a bit rough (specially now that a lot of new players are caught up), but the worst one? I can't agree with that.

Easy 80 points is as follows. Head slot is any dyeable head piece, dyed with soot black dye. Hands slot is Strife Gloves, no dye. Feet slot is any dyeable foot piece, dyed with soot black dye.

Looks cool though.

Easy 80 points is Hard Leather Wristguards in the hand slot, and Maple Pattens for the feet slot. No dyes required.

Nothing much to say here. Of course nothing about 7.0 yet or job spoilers or anything, that'll probably happen closer to the end of the year.

One interesting tidbit is that they are experimenting with cloud server architecture soon, which should hopefully make DC-transfers far faster.

Also, while much of this is exactly as expected, finally scaling alliance raid rewards to the level and length is huge! People intellionally taking items off to force Syrkus Tower might soon be over! Finally! 🎉
