One of the members of the GenZedong Matrix space recently created a communist Akkoma instance at spectreofcommunism.boo!

What is Akkoma?

Akkoma is like Mastodon but lighter and faster. It's an open source microblogging platform where you can post "microposts". It's kind of similar to Twitter, but actually good :3

Like Lemmy, Akkoma is federated, meaning you can interact with people on other servers regardless of which server you've signed up on (similar to how you can see Hexbear users on Lemmygrad). Akkoma federates with all fediverse platforms, including Lemmy, so you can actually also interact with Akkoma users from Lemmygrad, and vice-versa!

How do I join?

  1. Go to https://spectreofcommunism.boo
  2. Click on Register
  3. Fill in your account info and then answer the vetting questions in the "Reason to register" field
  4. Wait for your account to be approved

What is Matrix?

Matrix ≈ Discord - tracking + end-to-end encryption (by default)

Matrix is a protocol for real-time communication (text, audio, and video) implemented by various applications ("clients") -- the official one is Element for Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS), but there are many others, e.g. those listed here. It's also federated, like Lemmy. To use a Matrix client, you need to make a Matrix account at one of the Matrix homeservers (similar to how you can make an account on lemmygrad.ml or lemmy.ml but still access both of them). We have our own Matrix homeserver at genzedong.xyz, and you don't need an email address to register an account there.

How do I join the space?

(If you already have a Matrix account, skip to step 3)

  1. Download a Matrix client (e.g. Element) on your device.
  2. Create an account in the client. You can select genzedong.xyz as your homeserver here; if you choose the default matrix.org, you'll need to enter an email address. If it doesn't work on your client, try using Element Web for registration.
  3. Log in.
  4. Read the rules in #rules:genzedong.xyz and the vetting questions in #vetting-questions:genzedong.xyz, and then answer the questions in #vetting-answers:genzedong.xyz (don't worry, it shouldn't take long).

What is the space?

A collection of rooms (equivalent to Discord channels) focused on various topics. The space is intended for Marxists-Leninists, although baby leftists may also be accepted depending on their vetting answers.

Primarily for those who don't already have a discussion group, but anyone interested in Marxist-Leninist theory is welcome 👍

It won't require intensive reading/listening; it should be doable for anyone who works or studies full time, and we usually have discussions at the end of every other week. We're currently following a study plan from China, but we can add recommended texts (decided by vote). At the time of writing we're reading "Wage Labour and Capital" but I'm not going to remember to update this post

You can join the group at #reading-group:genzedong.xyz (an encrypted room) through the GenZedong Matrix space (see this post). On /c/[email protected] there'll also be a pinned post for the current text, for those who don't want to join the Matrix space.

Today the UK will head to the polls and get to vote for which genocide supporting, racist and anti-worker party they would like to run the country this time round.

The corruption within the occupation is alarming. Let me introduce you to Yair Katz, chairman of the Israel Aerospace Industries(IAI) workers' union. IAI is a state-owned company and its largest.

Recently, he threatened to use "doomsday weapons" against Israel's enemies. It prompted me to research this man.

Yair Katz was arrested in 2017 on suspicion of corruption at IAI. Katz, 36, who serves in the senior management of the IAI and has been a member of its powerful workers’ union for four years, was arrested on suspicion of coercing employees into joining the Likud party, police told the court in a hearing to extend his remand. https://www.timesofisrael.com/welfare-ministers-son-named-as-suspect-in-iai-corruption-probe/

He eventually got nothing, and the case virtually disappeared from the news.

The Likud party is Netanyahu's government. The IAI company is a stronghold for him.

For some two decades, Haim Katz has represented employees of IAI, Israel's largest state-owned firm, whose current roster numbers 16,000. https://www.defensenews.com/interviews/2015/03/22/iai-labor-chief-helped-propel-netanyahu-s-win/

Before Yair Katz became chairman, his father controlled the workers' union at IAI. He was also arrested for corruption, but nothing came of it.

Haim Katz is an Israeli politician. He currently serves as the Minister of Tourism. He was the Minister of Labor, Welfare and Social Services from 2015 to 2019, and served as a member of the Knesset for One Nation between 1999 and 2003, and for Likud between 2003 and 2023. (Wikipedia)

The events below happened recently and are quite alarming.

On May 6, 2024, the Israel Aerospace Industries workers’ union has announced a labor dispute and is threatening to disrupt the company’s supply to its customers. https://www.defensenews.com/industry/2024/05/09/israeli-labor-dispute-could-disrupt-production-of-arrow-3-weapon/

From the article (emphasis mine):

The dispute, announced Monday, follows the Israeli Finance Ministry’s demand that it regulate so-called salary anomalies found within the state-owned defense company. The government is seeking the return of hundreds of millions of shekels that IAI employees received over multiple years without governmental approval, contrary to what is customary in state-owned firms. But the union describes the anomalies as incentives, claiming they are primarily meant to help with employee retention. The union wants the salary deviations to be incorporated into the company’s budget.

So, what we have here is a dispute between the union and the state over "salary anomalies."

From the same article above:

The union added that if the Finance Ministry does not meet its demands, the supply of the Arrow 3 air defense system to Germany, which is the largest defense deal in the history of Israel and the company, will be among the disrupted programs. The workers’ union and the company itself are united in the union’s demand to incorporate the alleged salary anomalies into the company’s budget.

On June 12, 2024, the state capitulated to their demands.

The Israel Aerospace Industries workers’ union has reached an agreement with the government’s Finance Ministry where so-called salary anomalies previously provided to company employees will be recognized as special retroactive grants, according to the union. https://www.defensenews.com/industry/2024/06/12/israel-aerospace-industries-union-reaches-agreement-with-government/

The IAI workers' union practically controls the entire company, and Yair Katz bribes/blackmails employees to support the Likud party. It's being hidden as salary anomalies. Also, his father had the same position before him and is now a powerful politician. Furthermore, it seems to me that Germany has a role to play in this matter. They certainly wanted that air defense system that the union threatened to interfere with, and one of the articles mentioned a meeting with German officials. It is worth noting that the deal involved $3.5 billion and it's a significant weapon deal.

It may have something to do with Germany's new deportation law.

The existing law requires that would-be citizens be committed to the “free democratic fundamental order,” and the new version specifies that antisemitic and racist acts are incompatible with that.

The Interior Ministry said that the law on residence will be changed so that approving or promoting “a single terrorist crime” is grounds for a “particularly serious interest in expulsion.” That means that in future a single comment that “glorifies and endorses a terrorist crime on social media” could constitute a reason for expulsion. The government has said that issues such as antisemitism, Israel’s right to exist and Jewish life in Germany are being given a greater weight in the citizenship test applicants have to undergo. https://apnews.com/article/germany-deportation-approval-extremism-online-7e849a4c7b15c5edbbeb063264ffbaaa

The excuse from Chancellor Olaf Scholz about last month's knife attack is silly. One white cop dies, and it's an excuse to enact a severe law? If only our politicians were this quick and effective with cops that execute black people... I believe the only changes in this legislation relate to Israel and that the IAI's union coerced Germany to add those new laws. This Yair Katz has an enormous amount of power. His union can halt weapon production and meddle in major deals with other countries. He is now threatening to use "doomsday weapons."

Any thoughts about all this would be much appreciated.

The election discourse has become cancerous because it keeps going in circles. This is because liberals have become fixated on the narrative of there being some large bloc of leftists who are going around trying to convince people to not vote. However, this contingent, does not actually exist? Most of the people I have seen take a stance against voting for Biden aren't telling other people to not vote. Some are, but the number of these people is so vanishingly small (compared to the rest of the electorate) that it becomes clear that the election discourse is entirely a waste of time.

Liberals are also really trying hard to convince these people to vote (by berating them online), and it just seems like this is the most idiotic and time wasting strategy possible. These people have negative charisma.

Even if they actually could actually speak persuasively, wouldn't it be far better to target the large number of non-voting centrists/apathetic people rather than leftists who have taken a principled stance (and thus could only be convinced if you knew more about American and world history, which liberals are blissfully unaware of)?

For as much as liberals are fond of accusing leftists of being impotents on a moral high horse, the election memers aren't accomplishing anything either.

I’ve been playing that game Lords&Villeins a bit and the description on Steam says it’s a “feudal economy” where “villagers runs their business and trade in the free market”. You might have seen this pic on Twitter

And yeah, it has nothing to do with the feudal mode of production at all, but not actually because of that description.

I’ve been thinking of writing an article about this game delving into how this type of games incentivize you to actually care about the collective outcome as well as what the feudal mode of production was actually like, but I have no idea if this is interesting to people and in line with that they expect of my writing.

Is this an article that you'd like to read?

The narration is polluted with some anti-communist propaganda, as expected from a western MSM, but there are some great footage. DW deleted it from their channel, probably because the video portrayed a too positive image of NK, even with the anti-communist propaganda in the narration.

Maybe some or most of you already knew this doc, but I'm posting here anyway.

Hey all, I got a question recently about trans rights in China. I wanna make sure I answer the question correctly so I came here. I would just look it up myself but it’s impossible given how filled to the brim the internet is with Sinophobic lies.
