I study guitar as a hobby. When I practice, I often play a little ahead of the metronome click. I can see it when I record myself with GarageBand.

I have been trying to adjust, but can't seem to progress.

Is there a metronome app that would give me a strong visual clue when I am not exactly on the beat?

Why am I bothering with this?

I have heard musicians talking about making the metronome sound disappear by playing at the exact right time. I also noticed some people frowning when I play a split second before the click. Is it worth improving that aspect? Is there a better way to do it?

So i've been trying to learn the caged system recently, I think i had a semi decent grasp on how its used and how it works (open chord shapes + barring on diff sections can produce different notes).

My main issue is with learning how to practice it, I've been learning songs recently on UG but theyve so far only used open chords and some barre chords but i never get too deep into the neck and being able to utilize the system.

Apart from that i've also been struggling to memorize which chords are what, and if anyone has any charts that label what chord is playing using what shape it would be nice.
