Sorry if I'm missing something, just joined and looked over the rules and I saw that we're only to use chat to discuss stream issues and the discussion is over here on Lemmy. Why not use the discord chat to discuss in real time instead of having to deal with the delay of posting comments?

Overview:

As a former London constable, Nicholas Angel finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. Not only does he miss the excitement of the big city, but he also has a well-meaning oaf for a partner. However, when a series of grisly accidents rocks Sandford, Angel smells something rotten in the idyllic village.

Okay, I've changed my mind. Lets post movie ideas. Just a casual strawpoll to see what kinds of movies people like around here.

The only rule is to post (or repost) movies you actually have a plan to watch in this WatchParty community. Obviously opinions can change but just be honest about where you feel today.

Not all movies are top tier... I don't expect all of them to be good. But all movies I listed here are something I'm curious enough about to watch here, in this watch-party community.

Welcome to the Watch Party community!

This community will focus on movie watch parties as a niche, as to not step on the toes of other communities that will host their own live threads for events such as sports and television.

Here's how to get started:

• 2-12 hours before you'd like to start a watch party, make a party announcement here to let everyone know.
• 30-60 minutes before the watch party starts, create a live thread so that everyone can discuss and react to the movie in real time.
• Once the credits roll, feel free (not required) to create a post party discussion to talk about the movie as a whole.

Tips:

• Every party participant is responsible for finding their own copy of the movie, feel free to post links or recommendations to legal sources of the movie in the announcement post. You can also stream your copy of the movie on our official Discord server, see below or the sidebar for the invite link to post in the announcement and live thread.
• Be ready to press play at the movie start time, so that discussion can be as in sync as possible in the live thread.
• Feel free to cross post your watch party announcement to other relevant communities (unless their mods tell you otherwise), but do not cross post the live thread, as that will fragment the discussion.
• Sort comments and posts by "New" to stay up to date on parties and discussions.

Standards

• Use the MM/DD date format, and 24 hour time format in UTC. Here's a handy time zone converter you can use if you're unfamiliar with UTC.
• The title should include the year (ex. 2023) the movie was released. It seems like every movie is a remake these days, and this will prevent any confusion.
• Use the templates below to help keep the discussions organized.
