I think Samir Amin; aaaaaaaadjsf has been posting from their Eurocentrism book, which I have been meaning to get my friend to read with me.

You should absolutely read it. Don't worry, it's not some extremely academic work with mathematical calculations, like some of Amin's other works. The English translation is written in language that is understandable, just keep a dictionary or Google handy to look up definitions of words. There are many ideas presented that are more relevant today than ever.
