I like to imagine that when the Black Eyed Peas came up with the lyric "let's get it started" as a replacement, it was like the end of a moon landing movie. The airlock door to the writing room unseals with a hiss, the band members walking out in slow motion to a cheering crowd. Moustached men in mission control high fiving, hugging each other and chainsmoking. Clusters of big vintage news cameras flash. The solemn yet hopeful horn music swells. They did it.
