Hmm, well I've never evaluated my avoidance. Let's see...I have watched a couple anime that had them in it and something about them just bugs me. Maybe i just don't like war stories in general, which the mecha genre is a subset of generally. But i also tried Fullmetal Panic because I'm a romance fan and i bounced off hard.
If you forced me to think on it further? it's probably that i just don't think giant robots are cool (I know, i know, sacrilege haha). It probably sounds crazy that a giant kickass robot doesn't add anything exciting to the table for me, but they just... dont?

Nah, that's valid. I took interest in Star Wars at an early age, so space wars just work for me I guess
I'd double down on the Turn A Gundam recommendation if you find yourself looking to try something outside what you usually watch! It's still a war story, but it does things in a pretty unique way.
I like unique, and im not really hooked on anything this season so i might give "turn a" a shot. i will let you know how it goes.
