It's been a few years but I remember some unofficial patches that improved the game for modern times.

iirc they hired the guy, gave him access to the source code, and he maintained the game for years

it has official windows 10 and proton support, its quite cool.

But why Armageddon over World Party though? World Party was the same game but with way more features

i don't know but they added a lot of stuff from world party to armageddon, i think its the most complete 2d worms now and you should try it if you like it.
