I'm at the point, again, of my regular re-watch of Star Trek:Voyager where as much as I consider Janeway a role model, I'm so bitterly disappointed that during filming Kate Mulgrew was absolutely horrible to Jeri Ryan and made her life very difficult on set.
The situation was pretty horrible and it's so bizarre because Kate and Jeri just had this amazing chemistry together. I feel sorry for both Jeri and Kate. The show was struggling and instead of working on the writing, the producers decided to fix the shows problems with sex appeal. Kate felt that this was utterly demeaning to her and given how horrible hollywood is to women 40 and over and I can't blame her for feeling that way. However, her rage was directed at the wrong person and Jeri was just there to do a job. Thankfully, Kate has profusely apologised to Jeri and they patched things up a while ago. They even appear at conventions together now. At least they didn't plumb the same depths as the infamous Shatner/Takei feud 😆
Unpopular opinion but Janeway is my least fave captain. Burnham or Kirk for me.
What horrible things did Kate do?
But that isn’t an unpopular opinion. She’s largely a one-dimensional character. She’s a terrible captain who can’t delegate and has to do everything herself, and somehow never comes unstuck from rash decisions. It’s lazy writing.
Picard is the best diplomat, and the best actual captain, in terms of actually coordinating a crew and putting everyone’s talents to use. Kirk has the tendency to try and do everything himself and make rash decisions, but he regularly gets into trouble as a result and needs the rest of the crew to save his arse. Both of them are written with more depth than Janeway.
Janeway also my least fav tbh. I love captain Archer 😍 he's underrated
Ye ok I haven’t seen to many eps of that one. We are caught up on Strange New Worlds here. Pike seems pretty even keeled, so to speak.
Burnham as captain? I stopped watching Disco too soon, it sounds. I got about two episodes into the season where she was 1,000 years into the future. Loved it up until then, though.
TNG and Enterprise are my regular rewatches 😁 so comforting
Yeah, but Kate Mulgrew did the voice of Flemeth in Dragon Age (Origins, 2, and Inquisition), so... 🤷♀️😅
i had big hots for old witch-lady and her hot daughter in those games 😬😅
