I've seen the prequels several times, including recently, and I would not have been able to tell you there's a character named Plo Koon. even after looking up a picture I could not tell you what he does in the film. almost nothing from those movies has stuck with me

In the actual movies he's basically just a cool looking guy in the background lol.

To be fair that's 99% of the real appeal of star wars and a thing that they kinda fucked up by doing many of them. Having a cool looking dude show up in a couple of shots leaves you to wonder about who he is. Which is a fun way to world build through background characters and not hand holding and being like "oh that's Jamp Lorkel, he fought the Myths Order at Belto 5 along with Zunk Weedum and the Jantrabs. Disney is making a five part miniseries about his contribution to the unrest on Valtrex Ten. He eats Wheaties for breakfast and he loves romantic walks at dusk. He's looking for a homemaker who isn't too religious but still goes to church. He's 4/20 friendly and likes dogs."

Personally I never really minded the bonus lore stuff that you only get from guidebooks or CHOOSING to read Wookiepedia. And the development they gave some of those background prequel charachters in Clone Wars was, from what I understand, mostly good?

ETA: Forgot to say I dont mind the guidebook stuff because its not intrusive and just feels like its there as a bonus.

Oh yeah if it's extra fan material it's great to dive into, I was more just pointing out that sometimes a cool mysterious character is cool because of the mystery and that's why making ten thousand marvel movies about every superhero fatigues people and they are doing it to star wars too and not realizing it

I just also wanted to tell a joke about it because I find all those extra side character names in Star Wars to be hilarious.

Edit: like you can't just call that dude in the corner of the cantina on Bespin "Steve" you gotta give him a goofy Star Wars name lol

Was he the guy who got like 3 lines in the whole prequel trilogy and all of them were being the wrongest it was possible to be?

No, I checked, that was Ki Adi Mundi (the conehead guy)

He's in a starfighter ship and gets shot down by his clone wingmen during the Order 66 montage part in Revenge of the Sith and I think that's it

He might be in the background of the Jedi council scenes idk

He's an actual character in the Clone Wars series and gets dialogue and episodes where he's either a main character to the plot or an important secondary character though and he's pretty cool, he and Kit Fisto (lol) are probably the best Glup Shitto Jedi imho

also Gungi the Padawan Wookie and the Ithorian Padawan in that story arc with the Doctor Who guy as the droid what teaches younglings how to put them laser swords together
