Was reading about the why is programming.dev federated with us post on DMT and was reading some of the comments like this one which specifically mentions my latest meme. Now, Idgaf what the one guy thinks, but I don't really want to be the (or a predominant) cause of us getting defedded even more either.
So I was wondering: a) is it possible and b) if it makes sense that we would want to hide those kinds of subs from the main page. If this was already discussed somewhere else, then sorry for rehashing but I couldn't find it.
I think hiding things from default feed might be possible based on this: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2072
Anyway I don't know jack shit about the lemmy codebase, settings, etc so no clue if I am even reading this right.
Note: I am not suggesting any particular course of action, only asking what people here think and if it might be worthwhile as sort of an olive branch to other instances while we still have our fun in the various subs. Assuming it even possible. I'm fine with whatever, just thought I'd ask.
We could build better moderation tools, better fine tuning for the individual user but in the greater lemmy community it won't matter. It's about control of narrative not about freedom. Instances will still defederate because they hate you and everything good. Lemmy was made by communist for redditors. Just think about that for a moment. The kind of people that make up it's user base . And they employ bots and dozens of alts when shit talking about other instances to appear larger than life. Well balanced people don't have time for that kinda bull shit. I don't want to add any more value to lemmy and prefer to instead build off nostr. Where I still see a path forward for multiple ways of thinking in a singleish arena.
Maybe if activity pub gets decentralized identities I'll revisit that thought.
