Was reading about the why is programming.dev federated with us post on DMT and was reading some of the comments like this one which specifically mentions my latest meme. Now, Idgaf what the one guy thinks, but I don't really want to be the (or a predominant) cause of us getting defedded even more either.
So I was wondering: a) is it possible and b) if it makes sense that we would want to hide those kinds of subs from the main page. If this was already discussed somewhere else, then sorry for rehashing but I couldn't find it.
I think hiding things from default feed might be possible based on this: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2072
Anyway I don't know jack shit about the lemmy codebase, settings, etc so no clue if I am even reading this right.
Note: I am not suggesting any particular course of action, only asking what people here think and if it might be worthwhile as sort of an olive branch to other instances while we still have our fun in the various subs. Assuming it even possible. I'm fine with whatever, just thought I'd ask.
Thanks for the solid response. I'm aware that this is for the most part a conservative leaning instance, so it makes sense that certain topics get a lot of air time. But I also think it easily leads to what I'd refer to as "humor stagnation". That's really my only point of thought.
FWIW, I do try to mix in some generic, mostly non-political stuff here and there (though admittedly I have an order of magnitude more political memes than non-political ones in my collection of stolen memes).
But I don't disagree with your point. Mixing it up more is definitely better for avoiding stagnation.
