I think Putin is in on it. I mean the dude is Putins bitch and is only there to make him look good.

To me it seems like it's "fake opposition" to flush out any rebels and take off heat from Putin.

I see that as like a 50/50, Prigozhin has really been aiming his ire at MOD/Shoigu and military leadership. Not Putin. So this may be more of the dictator letting the infighting continue (or its finally boiling over out of his control). Ultimately, we're not going to know until time has passed. Whatever it ends up being, I just hope it degrades their efforts in Ukraine.
