Never understood why this man was ever so lauded. He always seemed antithetical to what the internet and tech/ silicon valley people were about. He simply got lucky with PayPal and managed to spin up a fortune doing unethical things. He's antidemocratic and anti-free speech, and shouldn't be trusted. He got what his handlers/backers (Saudis, etc.) wanted and has managed to destroy a legitimate vehicle for the free sharing of ideas. Twitter can't collapse fast enough. Hate what this man has brought to it and how he has destroyed a platform that could've been fixed/saved.

Libertarian types idolize him because he's their vision of what success looks like. A private tyrant that has the power to enact anything he wishes for on a whim. A lot of people aspire to have that type of power unfortunately regardless of the actual underlying societal implications.
