Do you have a reliable source for this claim?
might wanna back up something that inflammatory with an actual source
I went searching and the only thing I could find claiming to have statistics about rates of sex crimes committed by trans people is this incredibly transphobic thread from a right wing think tank claiming that
CW SA, transphobia
50% of incarcerated trans women in WI have been convicted of sex crimes. The proof is a screenshot of a spreadsheet with no further extrapolation.Everything else I’ve found has been about the alarming rates of victimization experienced by trans people. And the study I found on trans people in prisons indicated that trans prisoners are very understudied. Their study included such a small number of trans people that they refused to publish statistics on them because they wouldn’t be statistically significant.
From about half an hour of googling, I doubt such a study exists.
i could see a conviction rate being overstated because existing is practically a crime but they don't even have something like that to point to
in hindsight I did not write that at all well. I've seen a couple articles say trans woman have a history more comparable to cis men than cis women. I would wager a lot of those charges are for existing in women's spaces with a penis and doing nothing else, or otherwise falsified charges. I was focusing more on the end result than my lead in, but that's no excuse. Legitimately do not know how I wrote that and didn't think about how it sounded even remotely, sorry to anyone who read it.
