Me, while I am shitting on the floor: "Sure it would be nice if the floor was clean and not full of shit, but it sadly is, so treating it like a massive toilet is sadly the only viable solution. I wish the floor wasn't full of shit too! If only there was a way to do something else, but sadly there isn't."
Edit: Like a bout of diarrhea, this analogy ran away from me. I am trying illustrate how, if you believe in representative democracy, then voting for any other reason than believing a candidate represents your values adequately, you will be poisoning the well.
