"Bernie's supporters have been very, very damaging to him, and it's really frustrating to see and experience. They don't realize how influential they are. It's frustrating to feel like they are hurting him," Ocasio-Cortez said in the midst of the 2020 primary, according to the book. "I feel like Warren is scooping up LGBT, progressives, women, and progressives of color because of how they isolate."

She also worried that the behavior of Sanders's supporters were "forcing an unnecessary choice between class analysis and race analysis" through their "behavior, not so much policy."

Ocasio-Cortez made those comments as she mulled whether to endorse Sanders's 2020 campaign, even though she had worked as an organizer on his 2016 campaign.

All the exit polling I saw said otherwise, Bernie won all groups(but especially poc and queer people) below 55, while biden swooped up the Olds both black and white, and Warren was left scraping by on a fraction of the college cracker professional set.

Yes, because the "BernieBro" thing was mostly an online thing. In other words, that was just very online Hillary/Biden/Warren people crying because young people cared more about another candidate. But it was made into this huge issue by the mainstream media, I am betting that it received more TV time in 2016 and 2020 than the Iraq war and climate change combined.

[–] [email protected] 63 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Is the Bernie Bro in the room with you right now, Hillary?

Just a made up demographic to discredit as a proxy for discrediting all Bernie supporters.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 months ago

Rember when she tried the same thing in 2008 with Obama boys but the reaction was correctly an immediate "what the fuck is wrong with you you racist old hag?"

[–] [email protected] 77 points 9 months ago (6 children)

Black people ain't having no Bernie

[–] [email protected] 73 points 9 months ago (2 children)

[–] [email protected] 67 points 9 months ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 55 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Just everything is so odd:

Jerseys hung up on wall via plastic hangers

Could they not afford a cheap poster frame?

Spiderman and Pan movie posters

Not my first choice, but sure

DVD cases hung on the wall

What the actual fuck. Let's see what's here: capeshit, sure; random action slop (Meg, Hobbs & Shaw, Equalizer 2), uhhh alright; PETER RABBIT, wot.

MLM poster on the wall (It Works)

tito-laugh

Busted old couches

One guy who's getting a haircut just randomly near the exit

[–] [email protected] 45 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I was gonna say, every barbershop I've been in has had the barber chairs lined up, facing a wall with a mirror on it. Not in the middle of the room, on a rug, surrounded by sofas.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 9 months ago (3 children)

The guy getting his haircut has dreads and the barber is holding just a comb. What is going on.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 9 months ago (1 children)

you re-twist locs with a comb. that part is correct. looks like the wrong kind of comb though.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 months ago

Ah gotcha, I knew they were treated differently but didn't know how

[–] [email protected] 18 points 9 months ago

Maybe beard cut? But that still doesn't explain why he doesn't have any clippers or scissors

[–] [email protected] 16 points 9 months ago

and he's sitting in an office chair.

A fake barbershop, put together for a pro-Warren photo-op, to attempt to convince people that POC liked Warren

I'm fucking dead hahahiasdofhio sd;do kaaghg

[–] [email protected] 56 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I love when people do blackface on social media. It's so cool and not at all weird to roleplay as a minority to try and own other white people.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Mayo Pete’s campaign manager (Liz something) got caught literally pretending to be a black man on twitter who kept hyping up Pete.

electon season 2020 would've gone bat shit if covid never happened, im convinced

[–] [email protected] 39 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Warren really was the high water mark for 'Twitter is not real life'

[–] [email protected] 29 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I winced from the secondhand cringe reading this. It was probably him saying that and everybody telling him to shut the fuck up.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They got challenged on it, so the warren campaign seems to have staged a fake barber shop to prove it wasn't made up https://nitter.net/STEFisDOPE/status/1231425884063764480

[–] [email protected] 23 points 9 months ago

the barber is wearing a tie! couches! what?!

[–] [email protected] 21 points 9 months ago

That barber's name? Albert Einstein.

[–] [email protected] 57 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Didn’t Warren get like third place in her home state?

[–] [email protected] 47 points 9 months ago

Yes. And it was at that point only a three person race

[–] [email protected] 55 points 9 months ago (1 children)

yep, AOC is just a warren-ite college cracker professional set-type so she doesn't see this pattern

[–] [email protected] 39 points 9 months ago (1 children)

She just "feels" like everyone else should agree with white college cracker professional set.

Her 6month bartending gig is stilen valor

Working a bit during college doesn't making someone working class either, nor does being "poor" during college and eating ramen make one poor. These are basically just mini-poverty tourisms and a hazing period for the middle class, not legitimate class differences. The precarity doesn’t exist, they have safety nets to fall back on (drop out and live with their parents at their huge house).

[–] [email protected] 14 points 9 months ago (1 children)

God damn does it ever wind me up hearing people talk about how they “struggled” in uni cause they had to eat ramen in their dorm or something. Mf you have rich parents and no student loan debt, there was no struggle. These people have zero concept of how it feels to be on the precipice of destitution with no one to fall back on.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago

Poverty is when I'm afraid to ask my parents for a couple thousand dollars, because they'll ask me what I'm spending it on and I don't want to admit that half The money they give me goes to alcohol and drugs.

Pulp - Common People (1995)

[–] [email protected] 48 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Yeah in the middle of the 2020 primary there was definitely discussion of Warren getting polite Bernie hand-me-downs. I can't blame anyone for "feeling" like that during the midst of 2020 - there was a concentrated media effort to make that case and propaganda/advertising actually do work. It turns out, real people didn't actually behave that way though. If aoc is still concerned about that now or anytime after Warren washed out then she's a dumb ass but who cares if an electoral politician was aware of and in some way responded to electoral political punditry in 2020

[–] [email protected] 19 points 9 months ago

there was a concentrated media effort to make that case and propaganda/advertising actually do work.

Bernie can blame himself for that. He ran a dramatically weaker campaign in 2020 and refused to distinguish his policies from the Democratic Party policies. He wanted to have it both ways this time. He wanted a Political Revolution that was somehow going to be more or less the same regardless which Democratic Candidate got picked. What a loser

[–] [email protected] 29 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Also the difference between his support from men and women was only 5%, but the media always stressed he was specifically "the candidate for young men"
