I used to unironically believe in this shit lmao
Can you explain how? And how old you were? And how you realised it was all nonsense? I've never really spoken to a former ancap before, so I'm curious.
Late high school and through college. I chalk it up to being a super sheltered suburban WASP kid who developed an ill-defined "anti-authority" streak and got really into Ron Paul. And if you're terminally online like I was its not long until you're introduced to Rothbard and general ancap kookery.
Frankly, graduating and then having to work an actual shitty job and pay actual shitty bills was what knocked me out of that mindset. Once you're getting directly fucked by corporations nonstop in your daily life the whole concept of "Voluntarism" becomes completely indefensible.
Actually reading Rothbard and his clearly racist explanations for poverty in the third world is what made me realize it was all bullshit. Though, the idea of "private courts" always smelled fishy
Don't forget the baby markets
Thanks for that, confirms a lot of what I've seen about adult ancap types, that they're sheltered suburban WASP kids, but unlike yourself, their parents always bail them out so they've never actually had to work for a living.
