Elevate all roads above house height. Reclaim the land they occupy for people and critters.
All roads become accessed via multistory parking buildings.
Infinite shade upon the soil, billions must be slightly cold. Also inhale carbon monoxide.
Fantastic bad idea, only slightly worse than draining the Mediterranean.
I mean, where does the carbon monoxide on roads go anyway? I can ban petrol cars too I suppose.
The shade thing I don't really mind, shaded soil for part of the day is better than none whatsoever. Especially for wildlife.
It's probably a bad idea but it's a pretty interesting one nonetheless. I'm definitely tempted.

Draining the mediterranean is obviously bad. This is workable but would cause all kinds of mistakes until a whole new school of design developed.
This has been tried before and it didn't work out so well
I do wonder how much of the trouble with the Bijlmermeer was simply due to Dutch weapons-grade racism, however.
Interesting but the problem this seems to have is that they didn't populate it and they appear to have underestimated their maintenance costs with all the new free space.
It's also not actually as radical as I want it to be. The entire ground level should be all green space. It should be beautiful and well maintained on a daily basis by the city.
I do agree with some of the takes though about the lack of commercial areas. That's not even just a problem with people going outside but also a problem of convenience itself, things people need should be within 5-10 minutes walk from home.
