It makes me think of board games. There's a general accepted price for most of them. And then there's those expensive ones. You know you're going to get extra stuff for the price.

AAA $70 games? You're probably just going to get the bare minimum if it even works before the months of patches after release.

Dragons Dogma is a cool game. But I haven't seen anything extra in this new one that justifies paying $70 for it.

Plus it apparently just chews up your graphics card and RAM.

I'll wait for a sale, and stability patches.

From the reviews im seeing, the extra thing they've added seems to be microtransactions

Is the first one good? I really doubt I'm going to get this one

I think it is. It's an action rpg. The party system is different, you have one permanent npc with you and then you can hire up to two more, for a total party of 4. But those two npcs will not level up, so you have to keep hiring if you want an up to level party.

The gameplay is fun. Fighting is fun too, lots of skills and actions to learn and combo with. You and your party members can combo off each other too. Enemies have weaknesses, and soft spots. It's got a touch of shadow of the colossus where giant enemies are climbable and even glowing stab spots.
