Some guy said his ex, an extremely small-time indie dev, slept with five people at games journalism sites in exchange for positive reviews. IIRC he posted it on 4chan, which is the most normal social media to do this on.

References to five guys burgers and fries was how channers got around censors cracking down on gamergate discussions. The censorship was enough to cause many of the gamergate channers to migrate to the even more vile 8chan.

More or less. The game she was supposedly getting good reviews for was free anyway. It was always a weird thing to care about when you consider that "video games journalism" was largely just outsourced advertising.
it didnt even get a review, it was just included in a list of 100 short indie games that people might be interested in playing iirc
