Why, because you were born in the late 90s and have been convinced by marketing that people only want FPS games?
2d games are alive and well and always will be. Quit trolling.
Completely missed my point but go ahead and make assumptions anyways rather than asking :D In a post Indie boom world where games like Hollow Knight and Pal-world can dominate the market there isn't a stigma with players about 2D or 3D and hasn't really been since about the 2000's. Hence it's a pretty dated take if Nintendo's management or IGN are seeing this as a hot topic.
