**>- If any app ( regardless of the platform they are in ) you know of that is fully FOSS and doesn't have any ads , tracking or any other anti features that didn't make the list it is a mistake and you can dm me and i will add it. The same goes for apps that are not really FOSS or have anti features , Even though i have tried my best some mistakes could've been made or if the newer updates of one of the apps listed made it unworthy to be included in the list , the platform it listed on isn't available for it or the link is broken you can dm me and i will remove/fix it.

I feel like you should split this into sections by OS.

Android

  • jerboa
  • etc

iOS

  • memmy
  • etc

Yes please. I would love to find a Unix Lemmy app so I can browse on Ubuntu

[-] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

Liftoff has one

Liftoff seems unmaintained and is incompatible with a lot of updated servers/features

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

I know but as they have not officially declared the end of development and certain instances such as .world still run 18 i am leaving it there until any change happens.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 4 months ago

Liftoff hasn't been touched for more than 6 months...it's absolutely abandoned, no need point people in the direction of dead and deprecated apps.

Summit is FOSS? Their github page is just a readme and prebuilt APKs.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I might have to do some research someone told me in one of the threada

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

That was me. My mistake.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

There is awesome-lemmy and the lemmy-apps megathread, I don't think there is a need to duplicate efforts.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

One does have closed source app and the other is on git. Not exactly what i am making .

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Yeah, but i don't think these are meaningful differences.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

I think there is a place for this on lemmy

Ads*
Other*
Anti-features*
And you don't put a space before a comma.

Fix your title.

Voyager is available for ios. Iโ€˜m using it rn. Dunno if you had a reason to exclude it.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

Will include it

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I'm using it on android but the whole interface is iOS style, I'm guessing it was made for iOS in the first place.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Possible. No idea, honestly. It works well on ios though.

Thunder is awesome

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Most of these are already on https://join-lemmy.org/apps , and if any aren't, you should do a PR to add them.

Anyone got a recommendation for an android app that supports site emojis?

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Jerboa does support emojis

Yes? Where do you see ads? It's fully open source and run by many Lemmy instances as an alternative UI. For example: https://old.lemmy.world/

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

And which one is the best? I can't be bothered to try them all. (I'm currently using Eternity, should I switch to something else?)

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I can't answer your question because you gave no context. I think eternity is good personnely but if you are looking for a certain feature then maybe i can recommend something . If you are happy enough just stay on it.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Thanks. I don't think I'm looking for anything in specific. I'm just always keeping my eyes open. And I don't know if other clients have more features or other benefits. I get along with Eternity reasonably well but I'm also not set on it. If you say there's nothing clearly superior, I'll stay on it.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Jerboa has some mod tools and voyager has better DM UI and post , user earching . But you will miss the costumisation and some side bar features of eternity.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Well eternity is missing the community search feature.

I use jerboa to search a community and then eternity if I search for a post since each doesn't have the other function ๐Ÿ˜…

Otherwise eternity is the best of the 6 or so that I have tried.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

My Eternity has that feature. If I search for something with the magnifying glass icon, the next screen that opens has 3 tabs: Posts, Communities and Users...

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I have just been doing it wrong for years ๐Ÿ˜‚

I always long pressed the floating button and used "go to community" and it would have a suggestion list.

I guess I can delete jerboa!
