The Canvas event has started. You can go there with the above link and sign in by entering your instance name (lemmy.zip if you're a user on this instance) and your username (no password entry is required).

After that you will receive a DM on Lemmy with a code that you can enter on the canvas site to confirm your identity. You might need to press 'Sign Up' afterwards on the main Canvas and it should show your username meaning you're good to go.

Quick rundown of the rules:

1 pixel per minute. Up to six stacked pixels. Notification and timer for upcoming pixels. No hateful/illegal/NSFL content is permitted.

Event runtime:

This event will last 72 hours, starting August 4th, 12:00AM EST (4:00AM UTC) and ending on August 6th, 11:59PM EST (3:59AM UTC)

If anyone wants to coordinate to draw something that represents the Lemmy.zip instance feel free to suggest something here.

Here are the current and past logo if that helps as I'm not sure how to coordinate placement and such myself so if someone more knowledgeable and wants to pick one of these then please go ahead!

I'm getting started on making our logo. Here's the template instructions for those who want to help out:

~~Open the canvas settings, scroll down to template, and enter this URL: ~~
~~Set position to 550x650 with a size of 75~~
~~Set color conversion mode to Nearest custom~~

To get the exact colors, I set the style to Numbers and also enabled "Add numbers to palette entries" under UI settings
At least for me, the template is slightly misaligned with the grid. If you press g to turn on the grid, you'll see the top left side is the worst. Go by the top left corner of the blocks there. For the rest of the image it's close enough to be obvious

Lmk if you're also joining this, if there's a few we can set up a Matrix channel to coordinate!

I'll help out with building this for the next couple hours. Sounds like the admins will be halving the cooldown fairly soon too.

Ah, looks like Lemmy added an extra layer of URL encoding that messed with it. Should be fixed now!

Oh I didn't realize that was a thing. I don't think that exist for this though.
