I have never hated CNN more than when I read that clickbait bullshit of a headline just now.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Agreed, it's a terrible headline, but the story is accurate. California's getting a lot more snow in a lot more places than usual right now.

Why is it terrible? It's terribly accurate is all.

And actually already 167 mph wind gust recorded at Pallasaids in Tahoe. Forecast is for 12' of snow. Highways completely shut down. Etc.

Highest from Palisades is now 191. There's also been "thundersnow." Shit's wild.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

Wow for 191mph.

And yep! Was just awakened at 4am by a massive clap the shook the house and lasted maybe 15 seconds. We rarely get hit by thunder and this was massive.

Twelve FEET? Like, two six-foot- tall people standing on top of each other?? 🤯

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

That's up in the mountains. The most any resident will see is ~2 to 3ft. These figures are always over the top.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

2 feet of snow is no joke, especially in an area without a sufficient fleet of plows.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

No puns though. ;)

Is that Donner Pass the actual pass where the Donner Party crossed? If so, holy shit, what a street to photograph for that

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

It looks like where the road passes through Truckee, CA, a bit east of the actual Donner pass in the mountains.

winter hurricanes cause deep snow in the mountains, that's pretty crazy

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

Yeah, they get 2 feet and here in MN we've got zero feet on the ground. In February. WTF?!?
