The year is 2024

Your evening is free

Yet you're still playing ocarina of time on the n64 cause you're still stuck in the damn water temple

The year is 2024 and my evening is free. I'm watching Babylon 5.

Why 2003 when the N64 came out on 1996?

My sister just told me earlier this afternoon that I need to hook up our childhood N64 because she wants to play GoldenEye 007 again.

You can play it in the N64 app on the switch, too. It’s not gonna be what you remember though without a CRT monitor / TV.

It looks pretty incredible upscaled through emulation actually. I know it’s not the same as playing on original hardware, but I was really surprised by how good it looks.

Phone my mate and get him over for a game of GoldenEye. Then fight over who gets to be odd job.....

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

We eventually had to rule out oddjob for regular games. Always offered it to the friend who hadn't played much before to even the playing field a bit.

Friends and I early on realized shootouts weren't much fun and between armor camping and odd-job it was just lame. We always played one shot kills and it equalized everything, even Odd-job--Theoretically smaller target but never was an issue. Then it didn't matter much if you had an ar33 against a pp7, you still had to treat opponents like their bullets were real.

One shot kills still couldn't make up for how fucking terrible that lawnmower engine Klobb was. Give me a pistol any day over that hunk of shit. Knives. Anything.

I have it :)

Start a playthrough of Ocarina of Time, followed immediately by Majora's Mask on subsequent evenings.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Just run around in the Majora's Mask save I've long since 100% completed for a few hours until I get bored. And then F-Zero X. The mode where you just drive on a straight loop-de-loop track and kill all the other vehicles for another few hours.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Gotta be Starfox 64 or Mario Kart if there's company

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

Bootin' me up some Extreme-G

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Bro you're describing my past 3 days. 🤣

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Yeah, seconding all the obvious choices ocarina/majora's mask. Anything mario...

But how about getting toasted and playing wetrix?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

I didn't have a N64 back in the days, but I usually re-visit it through emulation, one title that has always interested me but I played it so little is Balst Corps, it seems like the kind of game that you just play to have fun and not think too much.

Perfect Dark, with friends.

Depicts preferring GoldenEye visuals and sounds, Perfect Dark multiplayer modes where so ahead of time

I am currently running through starcraft 64. Yes, I do hate myself. No I won't talk to a therapist.

Goldeneye - Facility

I have no idea but I played that level over and over.

For a fun challenge I beat the entire game only using remote mines (using the built-in cheats for all weapons and infinite ammo). I can't tell you how many times I blew myself up, but I did beat the game.
