I like your post, but dislike your username, and so am going to use my 24 sockpuppet accounts to downvote this from visibility. You're welcome.

@Lemmygrad: What is this a crossover episode?

I see this post I feel nothing about has been down voted. Better down vote.

A lot of bad comment habits have started to come over from Reddit. Already seeing a lot more “came here to say this”-style comments

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Came here to say th- ah fuck

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Personally I see mostly great stuff here with very little vitriolic responses.

With that said, I think the mods here should be tougher about that kind of stuff than Reddit is.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't even know what vitriolic means. I'll forget to look it up in 30 secs

Almost like they weren't toxic because it was reddit, but reddit was toxic because of them.

I mean, I didn't dislike the other Reddit users that much since I stayed mainly in a small bunch of subs that catered to my hobbies, I'm here because I got pissed at the site administration that killed the API that allowed me to see deleted and removed comments and my favourite app stopped working

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah, I am in the same boat. I didn't leave Reddit, reddit essentially left me. I started using Lemmy like 2 or 3 weeks before the API thing took effect, but I didn't believe they would actually go through with it. When I could no longer access Reddit via Baconreader I just stopped Reddit.

Almost as if... As if it's human nature...

Good luck with eugenics.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think we need to stop calling them "Redditors" and call them by their actual name "humans"

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Shitposting indeed. Just let it fucking go and stop talking / posting about it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Seriously... You can't stop humanity.

And I'm a shit poster...

I'd rather read vitriol than whack pretentious memes of people that want to control people. They should go make their own Parlor so you push your dream of anti humanity and eugenics. Humans are animals deal with it or commit genocide and a never ending war.

This comment section made me cringe just like Reddit used to.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Some people can't on those comments can't accept other people enjoying things lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, and the polar opposite of people getting _way_too defensive.

"And in the red corner, wearing judgy pants, former Redditors! And in the blue corner, wearing insecurity pants, more former Redditors!"

"Yes, Bob, we're in for a good one tonight. We expect overdramatic attacks coming out early with overdramatic counters and the unusual defense of letting their opponent know they're going to block them before they do. I don't know who will win tonight and I don't care."

"Right you are, Jim. We expect it to drag out into 134 rounds as some fighters expel way too much time on pedantic attacks that mean nothing to anyone anywhere, but at least their own fragile egos may remain intact. Let's go ring side..."

see aforementioned link

They're still posting about this stupid shit? I blocked memes a long time ago and I'm so glad I did. It's garbage from reddit spread over to here and I'm not capturing that again. I should just start telling people as a tip to just "block [email protected] specifically"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't take the memes so seriously mate.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Not a single comment in here from the poor Canadians depicted in the meme. Sorry about that.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I get so many reddit moments on here that I never get on other platforms. What is it about this type of social media platform that attracts the most obnoxious breed of people?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Probably because the majority of Lemmy users are ex-Reddit users.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Are there any non reddit users here?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I think it's almost impossible, if you're attracted by this kind of "forumy" social network type you've almost certainly been to reddit as it exist since 2005.

Maybe one day Lemmy will have organic growth but it should need to become mainstream first so it's a long run, and it's expecially hard for a mostly-text social nowdays. We're not TikTok

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Goddammit, if we're about to have a round of Mussolini Posting...

Well, I'll probably wait a week and then see if it's handled, but what a week I'll have, I swear it!
