That article makes no sense...

There's more than ever but she thinks the only way adult women meet each other is from kid activities like school?

Sounds like her problem is she doesn't have hobbies and all her friends have kids.

It's a personal experience report. Why would it need to make sense? She could have ten hobbies and still feel excluded in certain social contexts, because e.g. most of her colleagues are parents and therefore don't have much time for hobbies themselves.

You don't pick hobbies your coworkers have to try to turn them into friends...

You find hobbies you enjoy to occupy your time and sometimes you met people who share that hobby and they become friends.

It's the same as dating, if you're out there doing stuff just to meet someone it's going to feel like work. Just go out and enjoy yourself, and you'll probably run across people you get along with.
