I don't think I've sunk as much time into any other mechanic in the game as I have with the map. Especially with mods like draw on map and map symbol size changer to do fine details.

I end up using the map for everything, like to-do lists, shopping lists, route planning... I have no idea how I used to play this game before and I never want to go back.

Do you guys like the map too?

Not to this extent, but I'm still under 100 hours of overall gameplay (only on like my 7th death). I just mark houses I've already looted, particularly large hordes to avoid, and resources I can't take at the moment but plan to come back for later.

It's cool seeing what other players do though. Thanks for the inspiration.

Yeah I rely heavily on the map too, 1000+ hours for me on this game.

One of the more useful things I've done with it recently is mark out trails when needed through forested areas.

If its a very high risk run like going across Louisville I'll mark my turns like a GPS.

Final tip is that you can open your map and still use and mark on it while paused by opening the map and using F2 to pause.

I love the map in this game, especially the fog of war, and when you look at town maps they are added to your map.

I use it mainly to keep track of places I've been and stuff I might want down the line.
