I have something similar to this but not quite as involved as this one. It's called a Walkydog and it's just a post that sticks out from the side of my bike that has a very short leash on it. The post sticks out far enough that my dog's legs won't get tangled up in the wheels and the leash is on a spring, so he doesn't get yanked around. We have a mutual understanding on how to behave around squirrels and other dogs and he knows I'll ride slow and steady. He's really pretty good with it. I take him with me to go pick up my kids from school and we all ride bikes back home together.

With your kids on the leash too?

Jk, sounds fun for all. Unfortunately the pedestrian and bike infrastructure in my place sucks ass.

My mom tried one of those with her golden doodle (around 70 pounds, hyper like a poodle and dumb like a golden retriever).

5 minutes in he ran for something, knocked her down (she was in her mid 60s at the time), and dragged her bike away. It had some sort of breakaway plastic coupler too, but it was too pliable and just stretched a bit instead of breaking. Looked like HDPE maybe.

Now the contraption is in my garage, in scrap metal pile. If she wants to ride somewhere with the dog she tires him in a trailer.

Be careful with them!

My first thought was, "that looks like a surefire way to injure a human and possibly kill a dog."

The OP’s photo actually looks a bit safer, assuming the dog can support the scooter if the rider were to let go/jump off.

You’d still potentially have a dog running off with your scooter though, which I’d totally watch a short video about…

I'd be so worried about crashing, but its sounds fun

There is definitely some getting used to it and I can't ever get careless, but it is a lot of fun and he loves it. To him it's like I'm some super fitness maniac who runs 10mph the whole time we're out.

Attach this to a fixed gear bike so the dog also exercises your legs.

"I thought I was ~~saving~~ exercising him, but he ~~saved~~ exercised me! Adopt a dog today."

I mean, he wasn't exactly working up a sweat on that scooter even *before * they attached a sled-pulling dog to it...

I guess the life-saving vaccine in his fanny pack must get through somehow. Sure looks cold there - how will they possibly make it against all odds?

It looks like they just took the bike rack with them.

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.
