The party sending the bard to negotiate with the dragon, the rest of them ready to bolt if things go downhill.
My party always sent me (the wizard) to negotiate with the dragons. The bard didn't know draconic, and my wizard's first Epic Feat was Polyglot. Between me and the rogue we knew 26 different languages before I took Polyglot to just know every language and cypher.
Believe it or not, communicating is also the macguffin in a successful marriage.

Pigeons are pretty fast getting off the ground and have matrix-like reflexes, they are not in any current danger
The cat is close enough that it is uncertain, they are in enough danger to warrant their full attention.
They're pretty agile birds. While corvids like jays peck to harass/kill other birds, pigeons use their strong pectorals to beat them with their wings.
