The astronauts aren't stranded, the teams just want to study the thrusters on-orbit, since they can't study them afterwards. Humour at Boeing's expense is quite popular at the moment though.

Except for that design glitch where they crash into the ground on autopilot. But I hear that's fixed because now the optional orange light that tells you when the autopilot is feeling crashy is now included for free!
