Clinton has spoken at 13 straight Democratic National Conventions, going back to 1976. On Wednesday night he confessed, “I have no idea how many more of these I’ll be able to come to.”

It was a striking admission from a politician whose dominance earned him the nickname The Big Dog. Clinton, who just turned 78, didn’t shrink from his age, instead turning it into a poke at the GOP nominee, declaring, “I’m still younger than Donald Trump.”

He couldn't have said any of that if it was still Biden, because Biden is also older than Bill.

Getting rid of Biden just opened up so much shit, I have no idea why some people wanted to push thru with him. Dems can't get away with openly denying reality like Republicans. That's why Dem voters aren't Republican voters in the first place:

Standards.

The implication here is honestly pretty exciting. Since the 80s, the Dems have been gradually chasing the Repugs down to the bottom of the barrel by emulating their strategy of chasing corporate donations in order to win elections by spending more money. Except, the Dems never quite raised as much, and were always at a disadvantage by doing this - in particular because it forced them to embrace policies which went against the needs of their voters.

Dumping Biden and turning towards real populism has already had a massive positive effect. Let’s hope they continue down this path, and that the move is symbolic of moving away from the old guard strategies of appeasing corporate donors. It would be amazing for the Dems to become a party of the people again - the ACTUAL people, despite what the corrupt Supreme Court thinks about corporations.
