On my desktop (Chrome, Windows) I appear logged out and I can't log in--when I click on log in and enter user& pass it says I've connected successfully, but nothing happens (I still appear logged out, can't comment, can't post, etc.). However, when I go to a page I've already been to (like my user page), then I "become" logged in (without having to log in), and when I go back to the home page I'm suddenly logged in.

On my phone (Chrome, Android) I don't have this problem. What to do? Clearing cache doesn't work, I've done it many times now.

Try incognito mode, or a different browser like Firefox. And reset your Lemmy password. When you clear cache/cookies, make sure to select time range "All Time".

I've had this issue as well, but clearing cache and cookies does resolve it for me.

Thanks a lot, clearing cookies (and not cache) fixed the connection problem... I still have weird behavior here and there like it's difficult to get the interface to stay in English (my browser is in a different language by default), and also I don't see this post (my post on the support channel about internet connection) anywhere in my profile... but it's a big improvement already. Thanks again

You're welcome. Lemmy right now has performance issues because thousands of people joined suddenly. After the usage stabilizes in a few days and server resources are increased, it will function better again.

Rebooting my computer? Yes I did, several times. As someone else suggested, I also removed the site's cookies (and not just cache), and that fixed a lot of things
