At no point in that half hour is any argument put forward to suggest that Harris will have good climate policy, or any climate policy.

The only candidate I can endorse for president on the grounds of being good for the climate is a loaded AK 47.

Yeah, I was very disappointed to see this. This channel tends to put out good, well researched content, but they also don't really point to any action beyond "vote" and "call your senator". This shortcoming stands out particularly in this video, because as you pointed out, what evidence is there that Harris will address their concerns on climate policy? The only evidence put forth is that Trump will not.

It's a video that ends up only pointing to why you shouldn't vote for Trump and I would bet that no one who regularly watches Climate Town would ever vote for Trump anyway. It's just another "Red bad, so vote Blue" argument.

I can't fault him too much for not having good prescriptions. After all, good prescriptions would have him sent to Gitmo in an unmarked vehicle. But I am disappointed at his enthusiasm for horrible prescriptions. Even doomerism is better than telling people bold faced lies.

You gotta kind of gesture vaguely towards good prescriptions but he really does go for full throated support of the bad ones.

Gotta say that I've put some respect on Our Changing Climate for actually just going in and saying what ought to be done. Much more serious channel over all, I don't agree with their analysis on China but that's a small disagreement all in all.

Marginally off topic but I've been charging up this rant since yesterday

Why is everyone suddenly touting the IRA as an historic investment in climate policy and ignoring the fact that much of the solar capacity being installed in the US is coming in the form of inexpensive Chinese manufactured panels that have to be imported from SE Asia to get around the tariffs that the Biden admin imposed on them. What the hell has happened to critical thinking?

Sure, every fractional degree counts and any action is better than no action, but the difference between electricity generated from natural gas in 2023 and 2022 was equivalent to all of our installed solar capacity in 2022. Growth in renewables is still supplementing growing demand rather than displacing fossil fuels and now everyone thinks we have oodles of time so long as we get on that trajectory.

Trump has been successful beyond the wildest dreams of The Powers that Be in tempering activism and getting people who should know better to content themselves with crumbs and I've never felt so discouraged.
