Edit: I was just looking for someone to explain this. I literally know nothing about web3 and very little about crypto. It sounded interesting, but maybe it's just dumb.

Stop trying to make web3 happen, it's not gonna happen. Seriously, the name isn't even gonna get reused for something normal because people would think it's related to all the crypto insanity. We're gonna go from web 2.0 straight to web 4.

It's some crypto blockchain stuff. You can store information (and computer code) in them, not just money transactions. I doubt it's a huge thing in general. Could be a huge step forward for that specific project, though. We've been doing blockchains for quite some time now. And additionally we have peer to peer networks and other decentralized internet projects like IPFS an a buch of others without blockchains, and some other like Ethereum and this one with web3 technology, smart contracts and all the other buzzwords. All of that has been around for some time now. Decentralized networks exist for decades already.

I'm not sure what this is about. Could be something legit or just some hype by some person. The hello world page doesn't impress me much.

I mean, don't get me wrong. That's cool and all. But it seems to be doing exactly the same thing as IPFS. Also, I would be kind of careful because if you have to interact with that web page in any way, then anybody who looked at your address would be able to see what websites you visit, and that would not be a good thing. I choose to use Monero over any of these transparency chains, but obviously Monero does not have smart contracts since all it is meant to be is peer to peer untraceable digital cash.
