I see so many people talking about passports and moving. I'm on a fixed income, and barely got an apartment with my mom cosigning. I'm fucking stuck in a red state and I feel so fucking screwed.

Also lets stop acting like most of the voters were misled, lied to, bamboozled into voting for trump. They saw the racism, sexism, hate, and disrespect for the law and others and they LIKED IT. They want this. They aren't idiots they're fascists.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's important to remember there are 340 million people in the US. Only 70 million, counted so far, voted for Trump. Of those 70 million people, many of them will also be targeted by the fascists, who make up a minority of that group. We outnumber the fascists. We do a disservice to ourselves and others by making it seem otherwise.

The number one polled issue for Republican voters was the economy. They got duped by Fox fucking News. Jokes on them when the Republicans inevitably tank the economy.

The real question is will the mass deportations or the tariffs do it first. Hopefully the tariffs. If we're going to be dysfunctional as a country, we might as well do it before making camps.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Conversely, at most 68 million people voted for Harris. That means roughly 270 million people either didn't vote or voted for fascists, which means they're either so disenfranchised they couldn't vote, are idiots, were scared for their livelihoods and lied to (meaning they're still idiots, but at least they're also cowardly), or are fascists themselves.

I don't know when we'll learn, but given our ever-deteriorating education system I don't think it'll be anytime soon.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There's no sense in lashing out at nonvoters. We need to organize in order to make a difference.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No sense, but I'd like to see the morons who kept bullshitting that there is any kind of sense in not voting. The dumbest fucking people anywhere

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago (14 children)

It's hard to understate how fucking awful the accelerationism was this last year.

I know. hug I know.

I'm super terrified myself. I'm scared. I don't know what I'll do.

Except for one thing: I'll survive. GodDAMN that motherfucker I'll survive. Even if I have to survive just to spite him, TRUMP WILL NOT CLAIM MY LIFE. >:(

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Me too. Although I'm not out yet. I'm thinking I'll need to scramble, now, to put in my name/passport changes before I potentially lose the chance. Of course, I don't pass, don't have the wardrobe, makeup or body to pass. I wanted to wait a little longer before coming out, lose weight, fix my shit, you know. Don't have the money to do anything, change anything how I want.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well, one silver lining is that at least this can serve as motivation to jump-start your journey. We need more silver linings...

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

We sure do... I've been on hrt for over a year now, at least, so there's that.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 week ago

Yeah umm, me and my spouse are now creating a plan to at least get us to the most blue state we can but... fuck

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I'm a straight milquetoast white bloke so I can't really talk, and I'm not American so I didn't really have a say, but I feel so sorry for everyone effected by this.

The US just turned around and put themselves back 70 years, if not more. How fucking hard is it to accept people for who they are? Is that country really so self centered and stupid?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago

It's a combination of the right-wing infosphere brainwashing people and systemic flaws in our democracy that allow for minority rule. A minority of the population in key states needed to fed Republican propaganda for decades and that's what happened.

Unfortunately, this will have global implications. Trump's foreign policy will allow dictators to do whatever they want. If anyone reading this knows a place they can go where they can be safe, don't let me stop you. But, this is going to allow dictatorships to carve the world into spheres of influence.

The way we push back against this is by organizing.

Don't go thinking you're unaffected! This election has sealed the fate of the entire world in regards to being destroyed by climate change.

I would encourage you to not assume votes for Trump were necessarily endorsements of what he stands for. My vote for Harris certainly wasn't an endorsement of her policies (such as pro-Israel, pro-fracking, etc.). Like many people, I vote for the lesser evil.

Lots of people are voting Trump out of anger about inflation and price-gouging. Sure, his base is made up of bigoted individuals, but I'm talking about the people who voted for Obama, Trump in 2016, Biden in 2020, and Trump in 2024 - these voters are mostly working class folks, they are more diverse than you would think, and they are mostly upset about the economy and punishing the incumbent for not taking better care of them.

We can criticize these voters until we're red in the face and there are plenty of legitimate critiques, but it's helpful to remember the rage of poor people rarely gets channeled in healthy or constructive ways. I believe Frantz Fanon noted this about the violence that boils up in response to colonial imperialism, and while it doesn't directly apply here, I think there are some similarities worth considering.

anybody outside the us want to adopt a cute trans girl? I'm partially housetrained already! and I only bite occasionally.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

In the US and I would but I'm in the same situation unfortunately :(

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Might be a good time to check your documents, make sure you have a U.S. passport, that it isn't expired, etc.

I feel ill. I wish I could go back to sleep, but I'm too wound up on fear and trepidation.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 week ago

I hope not too many of us die or suffer a lot. But I feel powerless to help much.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I feel sorrow for my brothers and sisters and enby pals who will have to endure these uncertain times.

I don't know what I can do to help anyone, are there any organisations which directly protect, or perhaps help relocate at risk trans people that I can throw money at?

I had a look through the listed resources on the post election post but nothing jumped out to me, perhaps I missed something though.

And here I was thinking that my egg cracked too late to be a part of the civil rights movement.

I was planning on moving to Washington, but I really wanted another year or two to get things together first. Looks like that’s not an option anymore.

Speaking of, does anyone know of any good mutual aid groups that could use a hand in the Olympia region?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

It's hard to know what to say. Just know that you aren't alone and you still have support from many millions of allies, even if it may not feel like it right now.

I weep for every woman, minority, and member of the queer community who tried to stop this. It sickens me to witness fascism growing not just in America, but the world over.

There are truly scary times ahead. Stay strong ❤️

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sorry guys. I'm not American but I'm sorry for what is probably going to happen. We can only hope not

I like how accepting the world is a very dark place, where you work hard for your own points of light, helps me appreciate how dark this day is while being minimally affected emotionally. Feels to me that being more comfortable with darkness/bad luck/mortality/terror/"The bad parts about being human" (or whatever you want to call it) gives me more space and safe-environment (in mindspace) to understand how completely screwed some things are. Stay strong & Good luck ❤️

Good luck everyone - hope to see you all again.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Sigh. Just an ally, but I'll keep being one however I can.

I need to get my skills up to snuff and get a new job... the idea that I will technically be working for that failure of a human being is nauseating. I refuse to be complicit.

There's nowhere to even fucking go, half the rest of the planet is going the same direction or is otherwise semi reliant on the US

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

On the other hand, if all the good people give up the fight and leave it to project 2025 to find their replacement the public as a whole will be in even greater danger.

Obviously it’s not fair to expect you to put yourself in danger for everyone else, but it might just be worth considering of forms of resistance.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm in a hard red state, working for a branch of government that already leans fairly red (DoD). Not even being hard on myself, I am a dime a dozen IT technician that coasted into my current position. Frankly, I think I've wanted out for a while now, there's just nowhere else to work in the area.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

That’s unfortunate but I understand, I just didn’t want the thought of working for him to be the only reason. Be safe.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh I'm sorry did you want rights? I thought you wanted The Right™️

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago

Not funny nor useful thing to answer.

OP, i'm so sorry and frightened. I hope you'll have a great community to survive this and build a better society by the example.
