I love when gamers are open about their games and enjoy sharing them. Too many groups hoard knowledge and gatekeep, you're not a true player, that sort of thing. It's way more fun to show your favorite game to your friend and help them, now you have two people who like it!

I finished elden ring without using rune objects. Not as a challenge, I genuinely thought I would need them for a future situation.

Ah, the ol' Elixer/Mega Ether conundrum!

"I have only one pokemon but that revive would be better for another battle"

If I need to use consumables in this fight, then I might run out of consumables when I built a dependence on them in a harder fight later!

Now play Fire Emblem. The S rank Sword of Ultimate Swording has 10 uses before it vanishes from existence. I'm keeping it in my inventory untouched forever.

and remember, everybody: no spoilers!

I love the feeling of discovering something for the first time, and would never take that away from anyone. there are so many games I would gladly have wiped from my memory so I could get that feeling back.

I can't parse the first sentence. Might be a morning thing. Can somebody help?

"I am watching my friend play a game that I like. She is playing it for the first time!"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Her mouth is a 'play' icon. That is all.

Friend proceeds to get insanely rare drops that you haven't even seen yourself

*internal screaming*

I know it's very likely innocent

But "fren" will always be a huge red flag parade for me

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What do you meaaan? I have been using it innocently only, why would it be non innocent? Plz dont take fren from me, it sounds so cute.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

If the word fren is not fren, why is it fren-shaped?

I have literally never run into that until now. That seems like a dog whistle pitched so high, not even rodents can hear it.

Lmao, by that logic you wouldnt be able to use any 3-5 letter words because every one of those probably has some acronym associated with it, that means something bad.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I don't think Nazis are actively using every acronym, c'mon you know that's silly.

They use this one though.

It's like saying 1844 isn't a bad number, because numbers aren't bad—unfortunately more often than not, when you see it, it's not used innocently.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fuck all the way off with your newspeak bullshit

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I didn't come up with this, they did

I would love this to not be the case, but it's just naïve to ignore the reality of the shitheads that are out there

Their whole thing is existing in the grey area between harmony and incongruity

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

And context usually gives away whether something is being used innocently or not.

Don't assign moral values to words or numbers. Those things are morally neutral. Look at how they're being used and the context surrounding their use then use that to determine the morality of the individual using them on a case by case basis.

Did everyone responding to you miss the FrenWorld drama at Reddit a few years back? It was thinly-veiled racism disguised as friendly comics. It was finally banned for both that and glorifying violence.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Ikr, people clearly have short memories.

I'm sorry that people don't like it, but it is what it is; denial of this only helps the fuckos using it that way

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I can assure you its use is innocent, here.

But after looking up I can understand your concern. It seems to be one of those otherwise innocuous phrases that's been co-opted by miscreants.
