Defense lawyers for Marine veteran Daniel Penny, on trial over the death of homeless black man Jordan Neely, pushed for a mistrial on Thursday, citing testimony from a witness they deemed biased and accusing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‘s office of promoting an anti-white narrative. They protested the characterization of Penny as a “White vigilante” and opposed witness Johnny Grima’s courtroom statement labeling Penny a “murderer” and “abuser,” despite neither murder nor domestic abuse being among the charges.

This case upsets me to my core. I understand the need to investigate but I have not seen on shred of evidence that makes this guy look guilty yet BLM protestors are outside the trial everyday talking about this was a death cause by white nationalism. Literally his witnesses (who have come from every background), the videos, and the 911 calls literally have everyone saying they were scared to death of Jordan Neely and they were grateful af Penny showed up. That this case continues I feel does more damage than any possible good to equal justice causes, cause this just looks like a witch hunt based on race. Can anybody please explain what I missed?

Penny held the chokehold for basically a minute after Neely went limp; what are you even talking about? There's restraining someone, there's putting someone in a dangerous chokehold for several minutes (and expressly knowing how dangerous it is as a former Marine), and then there's doing all that plus continuing almost 60 seconds while they're completely unmoving and not a threat to anyone.

Have you or have you not watched the Vázquez video?

I have and it was a volatile situation, hell the responding officers after Penny let go said Neely still had a pulse, and his cause of death was overdose until the video went viral. Police Bodycam Video I have watched many of the videos. Have you seen all witnesses testimonies that Neely’s behavior was so threatening that one even called it satanic?

and his cause of death was overdose until the video went viral

Oh yeah, the George Floyd approach: claim it's an overdose until a viral video shows the a man was murdered by having his airway cut off for multiple straight minutes.

That said, I can find zero evidence for this claim that it was ruled an overdose until the video went viral; got any proof, or are you just making shit up?

But have you seen the other videos and testimony at his trial? You seem to want a certain narrative here.

Where's the "overdose"? It sounds to me like you're making shit up to justify a man being murdered. And you can clearly see his body go limp in the video.

Edit: oh wait, you're a Project 2025 denialist. So I'm just speaking to someone deeply intellectually dishonest and not worth a second of my time. Glad I figured that out early on.

So you've motte-and-baileyed your way from "he was declared to have overdosed before the video went viral" to "synthetic cannibinoids were present in his system but the medical examiner never indicated anything about an OD".

Again, completely intellectually dishonest and not worth my time. Have a good one I guess. You're fucking gross for trying to justify this – let alone intentionally lying about it to do so.
