Summary

A critical underwater internet cable linking Finland to Germany was severed in the Baltic Sea, sparking fears of Russian sabotage.

The incident occurred near the Swedish island of Gotland and is believed to have been caused by human activity, possibly a trawler or ship anchor.

Finland is on high alert due to its recent NATO membership and previous incidents involving Russian sabotage and Chinese vessel damage to energy and communications lines.

Not saying they didn't do it this time. But they didn't blow up the Nordstream. Hopefully we get some more information in time.

Doesn't really affect my view of Russia anyway

Honestly we should just ban Russia from the world web. Cut all cables to them and let them be.

I'm not really seeing the upside there. You're basically doing censorship for them. It would mess up their economy, but there's lots of other things that could be cut off first, if you controlled the entire Russian border somehow.

Just to be clear, this cable is "linking Finland to Germany". Or rather, was.

Was. And no I'm just talking in general. I know it's impossible but could be fun doing the reverse uno on them.

Probably our newest overlords including the Musk will make more money if we don't do that so... I'll give you one guess what'll happen, and hint, it has nothing at all to do with whatever would have been the right thing to do in that situation.
